Presentation Part 2

The Hobbit Theories:
Structuralism of the Film is primarily mirrored off the works of J.R Tolken who’s book is used as the material in which the film is based on and with some minor adjustments to correct any story flaws e.g. Dialog and Themes.

Semiotics are presented from the films use of Dialog which has been adapted into the film script. However the Film has not really changed a significant part of the stories Lore.

To use Auteur theory based off the films narrative would have to take the subjective criticism to the book itself however the book only acting's as what it is cannot be fully broken down by the Auteur theory.

Due to the film heavily basing the itself off the book. The Idea of Feminism is a very vague and very unclear element to examine. However by Modern standards which by the book and some adjustments characters such as Galadriel who is knowledgeable and Tauriel who is a Powerful and Influential character in the movie.

Psychoanalytic elements could be examined upon critical inspection however prior to the story taking place and while the story is taking place each character has story which is usually extracted from any of the characters dialogs and whilst in the process of narrative progress the characters all in some manner develop personality. A prime example of this is Bilbo Baggins who goes from being a timid character to a significantly influential character throughout the story.

Media Presentation

Task One Analytical Approaches to Film
The Content analysis shows before us a plethora of points on display. With the first part of the display being the most obvious is the Man at the top part of the Poster which shows with his size and scale of the poster being part of a significant proportion which may allude that he may be the main protagonist. The second part is the Woman who is seen near the right of centre in the poster who one upon first look at the poster would have to assume due to her being under the male protagonist and the two characters having an almost transparent effect on the poster would either hint to that she is under the protection of said protagonist or that they may be in a relationship of some sort. The Third and final striking feature of the poster is the back ground which the setting seems alien or futuristic by nature which the view would assume to it having some relation with the characters or the story.

The Genre of the Film: The Film Blade runner has to name but a few genres these consist of the following genres. Science Fiction, Thriller, Cyberpunk and Cult Film these are to name a few.
The Narrative Analysis from what the viewer would be able to gather would be from the visual contents and the text. The Visual element would consist of two main features both being the characters and the background (Setting). The first Part being the characters being  that of what relation to the story do they have to the story narrative if any for that matter or to what relation do the do the characters have with each other for that matter. Also to address the second part which is the background and to what does it relate to the story narrative or where and when is the scene from or to what it holds relation wise to the story.

Scene Analysis of:      “Tears in Rain”

The Fan study would conclude based on the divided reception of this scene are as follows. The Dialog that is of the fans interest is that of Roy Batty who says prior to the speech to Decklen as he is on the edge of the building about to fall with Roy looking down at him uttering only this line “Quite an experience to live in fear”. This line in itself has had opinions from fans ranging from things such as how that would show the audience that Roy is on the verge of understanding human emotions with the next part of the scene to follow after. However there are others who would only focus on the Speech in itself which to a degree has a very philosophical attitude towards ones life that being Roy's The speech which is quite difficult to explain in detail however the fan theory and ideas are as such. With the first being that Roy knowing that he was going to die saved Decklen as so that Roy would not die in memory and for another reason why Roy goes into the speech. The second Idea would be that Roy had only in his final moments developed human emotions and that’s why as some kind of final act of redemption saved Decklen. However the most eye-catching of Fan interpretations of the fans is the shot of the Dove that Roy is grasping flying off into the sky is a form of visual metaphor of Roy's sprit being free after his death or to another degree that this is supposed to empathise with premise of after life. However though these theory's may vary it is interesting that this scene leaves many of its fans to use there own interpretation for the motives of Roy.

The Reception study of the film is shown quite significantly.  This scene is an example one of many that presents the audience with an open message. The message of this scene which is dubbed by those who know this film as “Tears in Rain” which is the scene that has the main antagonist Roy Batty who in this scene dies often lead the audience in a state of mixed thoughts which boil down primarily to the message of the scene. To explain the scene briefly I will go by the story as follows. Roy Batty who is a replicant (Robot) who in his life time only has according to the film lore only four years to live, After Roy Batty gets into fight with Decklen who is known as the Bladerunner who is tasked with hunting replicants, who is now in a final stand off with Roy Batty who comes to nearly killing Decklen, only to realise that if Decklen was to die then the memory of Roy would be forgotten since all he knew have died. Roy saves Decklen then proceeds to go into a speech in where Roy regales Decklen in a speech while Decklen who is in a state of shock after the ordeal sits in complete awe. The scene finishes with Roy drawing his last breath and shutting down while the white dove he has been holding  the entire time fly's off up into the sky in a symbolic fashion. This has left audience divided on the scenes actual message. With some focusing on the Dialog and with others focusing on the visual aspect however this for the most part has only been discussed among the fans of Blade runner due to the films largely cult following.

Task Three to Second Analytical Approaches to Film

Unlike Blade runner this poster lacks any significant narrative if one would put it by that of display. The Poster Shows us a character who lacks any distinctive qualities to determine his role in the film narrative. However there are features that could possibly allude to narrative relation. The first feature is the characters features which would consist of the lack of eye contact and the characters facial expression that being of aggression which may connote that he could possibly be the villain or not. Also another feature to highlight is the use of red which would connote danger or aggression which may relate to the character as can been seen with the actors last name being in red and broad font and the fact red lines appear to be branching out from behind the character.

Genre analysis of Terminator are as follows. Action film, Tech Noir and Fantasy. The film has a plethora of other Genres and Sub-Genres however the above are the most notable.
From content of the poster analysis from the perspective of first visual inspection. The poster presents us with a man who is of a mysterious nature and of a stern characteristic. Also focus of the colour red would empathise that the antagonist of the films protagonist is who is displayed before us. Also to highlight writing or font of the Title appears to be in a chrome looking colour and for the time in when this film was released that being 1985 emphasis a sense of futurism about the film.
